Q&A: 5 minutes with Rozemerie Cuevas

By | Март 21, 2012

Twenty-five years in fashion makes you a veteran, but RozeMerie Cuevas and her label, Jacqueline Conoir, are far from retirement. Case in point: Cuevas recently upsized her Jacqueline Conoir Boutique & Studio (164 W. Fifth Ave., Vancouver,            604-688-5222      , jacquelineconoir.com) to an 8,000-square-foot space and launched a younger, edgier line, called JAC.

What type of girl did you have in mind when you were designing JAC?
“A cross between Kate Moss and Chloë Sevigny. She’s urban. She’s modern. She’s subtle. She has her finger on the pulse of things.”

They said/We said: Leigh Lezark is the next H&M collaborator, or should we say curator

By |

H&M has announced it will join forces with downtown mistress Leigh Lezark for the launch of an upcoming shop-in-shop inside London department store Selfridges. Instead of commissioning the Misshapes DJ/model to design a collection, though, the Swedish retailer has asked her to curate the collections inside their new location. If you’re wondering what exactly “curating” entails in this case, don’t feel lonely, because so are we. From what we can gather, Lezark will be selecting some of her favourite pieces from the collection as well as of course making a personal appearance when the shop opens its doors next Thursday.

Afternoon beauty fix: Attack wrinkles and pimples all at once!

By |

I’ve started to notice fine lines around my eyes and mouth, which is weird because my combination/oily skin still breaks out from time to time. Is there a foundation that will cover pimples and reverse wrinkles?
Let me first address your comment that it seems “weird” to age and suffer from acne at the same time. It’s probably more common than you think. In fact, both your wrinkles and pimples may have been born from the same cause: dehydration. You can’t avoid the aging process by drinking more

Since its release last week, we’ve started feeling pangs of Draper-fever and so, in an attempt to calm ourselves, we chatted with Bryant about the collection and her work on the hit show. Read our interview after the jump!

How did you get involved with Banana Republic?
While designing the costumes for Mad Men, I was introduced to Simon Kneen, the creative director for Banana Republic. We shared a passion for the clothing of this era. Banana Republic is known for classic pieces and accessible luxury, making it the perfect outlet with which to collaborate on this collection.

They said/We said: We weigh in on Abercrombie & Fitch paying The Situation to stop wearing their clothes. And then we laugh

By |

Remember when Abercrombie & Fitch was selling graphic tees that read “The Fitchuation”? Well, apparently, neither do they. In fact, they have recently offered payJersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino to stop wearing their clothes. Seriously.

The official statement voiced the company’s concern that by wearing A&F clothing, Sitch was undeniably hurting their image. They even went as far as saying that this association with the label is contrary to the nature of their brand. We don’t understand how they forgot about every single shirtless-boy-in-jeans-with-an-eight-pack ad campaign they’ve ever released. The best part? The statement was titled “A Win-Win Situation.”

We understand the concern of being associated with Jersey Shoreesque behaviour, but there’s something fishy about A&F’s request. It came just in time for the company to report a 64.4 per cent rise in second-quarter net income during their quarterly earnings call this morning. It sure doesn’t seem like the Sitch is actually that bad for business!
